Brother Robert D. Mc Mullen

 

Brother Robert D. McMullen, age 74 of Malvern, died Wednesday afternoon, July 29, 2009 in the Hot Spring County Medical Center.  He was born on February 3, 1935 in Flint, Michigan to the late Harold and Lucille Clare McMullen.  Reared and educated in Flint, while in school he was a member of the State Finals Basketball team and also the debate team.  He served in the United States Air Force for 14 years.  Bob was the husband of the former Patsy Sampson, to whom he was married on October 2, 1954 in Flint.  After leaving the military, he became a minister of the Assembly of God Church, receiving his ordination in 1973.  Bob loved sports, especially the Detroit Tigers, of whom he was an avid fan.  He moved to Malvern in 1991 and became a fixture at McDonalds, where he often met for breakfast with his group of “regulars”.

 

He is survived by his wife, Patsy of the home, by three sons, R. Michael and his wife Judy McMullen of Perrysburg, Ohio, Patrick D. McMullen and Julie Ford of Allegan, Michigan, and David T. and his wife Harriet McMullen of Farwell, Michigan; two sisters, Marlene and her husband Bill Sheaffer of Flint, Michigan, and Barbara and her husband Larry Agle of Flushing, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Michael McMullen, Cory McMullen, Halston McMullen, David Paul Williams, Bradley Allen Williams, Christopher McMullen, and Emily McMullen; and by seven great-grandchildren. 

The funeral will be on Monday afternoon, August 3, 2009, at two o’clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Pete Elliott officiating. 

 

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Thaddeus Carraway VFW Post 2278 of Hot Springs, and an Honor Guard from the Little Rock Air Force Base. 

 

Pallbearers will be: Cory McMullen, Michael McMullen, George Green, Richard Trujillo, Gerald Williams, and Dwight Hunter. 

 

Visitation will be from four until six o’clock Sunday at the mortuary.
