Agnes Louise (Aggie) Carstens, age 91, of Diamondhead Community near Hot Springs, Arkansas died Saturday morning, November 5, 2011 in a local hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on January 19, 1920. She was the second of 12 children of Marko and Anna (Nagel) Kokan. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Waukesha High School.

Agnes resided on Highway E (Maple Avenue) in the town of Delafield, Wisconsin for over 40 years. She was a long-time member of the E&R United Church of Christ in Waukesha. She enjoyed participating in church, community and family activities, sewing and playing cards.

A resident of the Hot Springs area since 1996, she was a member of the Diamondhead Community Church and its Women's Group.

Agnes was the wife of Leon (Todd) Carstens, who preceded her in death on December 6, 2008. They were wed on June 25, 1948 and celebrated over 60 years of marriage.

Survivors include two sons, David Carstens of Diamondhead and his girlfriend, Loretta Reiber of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Rick Carstens and his wife, Nona, of Tacoma, Washington. She has three grandchildren, Jason, Codi, and Carly Carstens. They all reside in Wisconsin.

Agnes is survived by two brothers, Anthony (Marge) Kokan of Dousman, Wisconsin and Martin (Pat) Kokan of Kewaunee, Wisconsin. She is also survived by five sisters: Mary Ann Grosskopf of St. Augustine, Florida; Caroline Budiac of Waukesha; Alice (Earl) Schulz of Hustisford, Wisconsin; Linda Richardson of Sparta, Wisconsin; and Clara (Mel) Germain of Summerset, Wisconsin. Agnes is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Norine Kokan of Waukesha and Margaret Carstens of San Tan Valley, Arizona. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and long-time friends.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Joseph Kokan and Carl Kokan, and two sisters, Catherine Grundman and Frances Bear. They all lived in the Waukesha area.

Her memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Diamondhead Community Church near Hot Springs. Arkansas. Pastor Mike Fikes will officiate, with services provided by J.A. Funk Funeral Home.
