Albert G. "Red" Gibbs, died Saturday, September 6, 2014, at his home. He was born in Malvern on January 28, 1927 to the late John Calvin Gibbs and Georgia Jeanette McHenry Gibbs. Reared and educated in Malvern, he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Gibbs retired from the Hot Spring County Road Department, and also from Glenvale Products. He was a tinkerer, learning to fix and build things all his life. He once built an air compressor from used parts, and was always working on "stuff". On July 16, 1948, he married Bobbie French, and they lived in wedded bliss for just shy of 66 years, until her death on May 12, 2014.

He is survived by his children, Angel Melton, Cindy Harp and her husband James, all of Malvern, and Melony Ward of Mt. Pine; by one brother, Donovan Gibbs and his wife, Mary of Malvern; five grandchildren, Danah Beard, Stacie Thompson, Justin Harp, Ashley Ward, and Amber Ward; seven great-grandchildren, Emilee Hudspeth, Olivia Stanage, Noah Stanage, Eli Thompson, Christian Harp, Daphne Harp, and Lily Harp; and a special family member, Peggy Lusinger.

Mr. Gibbs was also preceded in death by two siblings, John and Jeanette Gibbs, a grandchild, Paige Ward, and a great-grandchild, Erin Thompson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, from five until six-thirty, at J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at Resthaven Cemetery with Brother Buddy Leamons officiating.

Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society or to the Humane Society.
