Alva "Al" Lee Orr, Jr., age 91, of Malvern, died Monday, November 27, 2023, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.  Al was born January 26, 1932, in Willow, Arkansas to the late Alva Lee Orr, Sr. and Amy Opal Wiley Orr.  He graduated from Carthage High School in 1950 as class Valedictorian.  He entered the Navy where he met his first love, Ava Lou Poorman.  Al served in the Koren Conflict and was discharged in 1954, and married Ava. He then began college at Arkansas Tech. He graduated from Tech in 1959 and began his first career with the Federal Government as a Wage & Hour Investigator. In the early '80s Al took early retirement and spent several years as a volunteer charter bus driver for his church, Horseshoe Drive Baptist Church, Alexandria, LA, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and a soul-winner. His love for meeting people and driving the bus turned into his second career as a professional driver for Kerrville/Greyhound Bus lines. He drove a route from Shreveport to Dallas almost daily for a number of years, logging over a million miles accident free. Al ended his third career with Wacaster Oil Company at the age of 88. After spending 25 years as a resident of Alexandria/Pineville where he and Ava raised their children and where he served the church and community, Al returned to Malvern, Arkansas where he resided for the past 31 years.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years Rebecca Ann Draper; sons, Alan L. Orr (Mary), Andrew L. Orr (Tracy); stepson, Gary Draper (DeeDee); and his brother Ernest D. Orr (Rita).

Al was also preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Ava Lou Poorman Orr, second wife of 18 years, Linne Mildred Hilton Orr; by his daughter Anita L. Orr; and an infant sister, Opal Fay Orr.

His funeral will be at 11:00 Friday morning, December 1, 2023, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral

Home with Brother Andrew Orr and Brother Carroll Koon officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

A visitation will precede the service by one hour, beginning at 10:00.
