Arkie Neal Remley, age 105 of Rockport, walked through the pearly gates and into the arms of Jesus on Sunday evening, April 2, 2023 at Southern Grace Care Home.  Mrs. Remley was born on June 25, 1917, in the Ten Mile Community in Saline County to the late Brunce Williams and Lucinda Houpt Williams.  She was the widow of E. D. Remley, whom she met while teaching in Stuttgart.  They married July 19, 1942 and were married almost 50 years.  She was the mother of three children who survive her: June Kleber (Klaus) of Woodstock, Georgia; Daria Williamson (Hamp) of Malvern; and Jon Remley (Rebecca) of Birmingham, Alabama.  All three are involved in education.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Clay (Scotti) Williamson, Jim (Vanessa) Williamson, Brenna (Bob) Redpath, Cynthia (Grant) Curry, and Lian Remley; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Cadi, and twins Britt and Brodie Williamson; Owen and Eleanor Redpath; and Gibson Cook.  She also leaves behind a nephew, David Paul (Dana) Williams, a great-niece, Heather (Logan) Hudson, and her devoted friend, Shirley Hamilton.

Mrs. Remley was also preceded in death by a three-year old sister, Merle Jean Williams and her brother, Steve Williams.

The Remleys moved to Malvern in 1949 where she taught at North Malvern Elementary (later Fields Elementary) for 28 years in both 1 ^st and 5 ^th grades.  She retired in 1977 with a total of 34 years in education.  Her students loved her dearly and she loved them.  She was a devoted member of Third Baptist Church, where the family joined upon their settling in Malvern.  She taught all ages of Sunday School and was involved in Women's Ministry and WMU enjoying fellowship with her Christian friends.

She was an avid gardener and nature lover.  At 100 years of age, she was still gardening, canning, and enjoying water aerobics at Bodyworks.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 Thursday morning, April 6, 2023, at Third Baptist Church, officiated by Brother Tom Strike and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.  A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church.  A private family interment will be in Rockport Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be her grand- and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Third Baptist Church, Malvern, or to the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home.
