Obituary

Barbara Gail Taft, age 58 of Malvern, died Friday morning, February 15, 2008 at her home. She was born on May 27, 1949 in Malvern. Reared and educated in Poyen, Barbara was a homemaker and the wife of Robert " Bob" Taft, to whom she was married on February 5, 1977 in Malvern. She loved to garden. When the bounty of her labors came in, she busily canned, or otherwise put up the vegetables, so that her friends and family could later benefit from her excellent cooking ability. A loving grandmother, she was called Mogo by her grandkids.

Barbara's other survivors include two daughters, Janey Welch, and Wendy Cook and her husband Jason, all of Malvern; a loving sister, Ramona and her husband Harry Draper of Poyen; her grandchildren, Devin Manis, Jessica Hixson, Michael Hixson, Amanda Hixson, and Robert Hixson; her nephew, David Draper and his family; and her beloved dogs, Tank and Taco.

She was preceded in death by her father, Conrad Harvey Pierce, and her "Uncle Mush", S. W. Pierce.

Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, February 19, 2008, at two o'clock in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Paul Grigsby officiating. Interment of her ashes will follow in Harp Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to your local Humane Society.
