Barney L. Head, age 93 of Malvern, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the Malvern hospital. He was born in Billstown, Arkansas (Pike County) on May 18, 1921 to the late Bruce D. Head and Lillie Finney Head. Mr. Head retired from Reynolds Metals after 37 years with the company. He was a member of Malvern First Church of the Nazarene. A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Trego. He loved playing music from an early age, and had a natural talent for all string instruments, the organ, keyboard, and harmonica. As a teenager he was a member of the Washington String Band, which played on a radio station in Texarkana. He also enjoyed painting, fishing, gardening, playing pool, watching fireworks, attending church, and fellowshipping with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Beatrice Williams Head; his children, Linda McMullen (Bob), Marie Milam, all of Malvern, and Stanley Beck (Jackie) of Glenwood; a sister, Frances Diffie, of Malvern; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 16 great great-grandchildren.

Mr. Head was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Ellis, and three siblings, Cecil Head, Orvis Head, and Lois Head.

His funeral will be on Wednesday afternoon, November 5, 2014 at two o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brothers Jerry Garrett and Ron Wilks officiating. A visitation will precede the service, beginning at one o'clock.

Interment will follow in Rockport Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are: Billy Beck, Kenney Michaelis, Charles A. House, Morris Finney, Warren Spillman, and Joseph Schultz.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles M. House, Charles Greeno, Jr., Charles King, William Murphy, and Bobbie McMullen.
