Obituary

Bernis Hathcock, age 68 of Malvern, died Thursday evening, October 9, 2008, at his home. He was born in Malvern on December 20, 1939 to the late Hudy Z. and Rose Masters Hathcock. Reared and educated in Malvern, he was a self-employed logger, at which he labored for over 40 years. Bernis loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed racing cars. He also took great pride in his yard, keeping it immaculately groomed. Bernis always read his Bible and made every effort to live by it.

His leaves behind his loving wife Judi Spice Hathcock, to whom he was married on February 23, 1962; two brothers, Huston and his wife Lovie Hathcock and Johnny and his wife Rilla Hathcock, all of Malvern; four sisters, Becky and her husband Orville Ashley of Prattsville, Kay Schulle and Dianne Freeman of Malvern, and Emogene Weaver of Ola, Louisiana; and his three cats, Zack, Lil Bit, and Spook.

The funeral will be at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, October 12, 2008 in the Damascus Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. James Pierce and Brother Billy Bosley officiating.

Interment will follow in Damascus Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Buddy Hathcock, Seth Hathcock, Josh Collins, Mark Hathcock, Glenn Spraggins, and Ethan Pierce.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Chris Efird, Will Scott, Alfred Elrod, Larry Brashears, Bud Rybard, and the Coffee Group at Andy's.

Visitation will be from six until eight o'clock Saturday evening at J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society or to the Humane Society.
