Betty Barbee Henry, age 94 of Malvern, died at her home on Sunday, June 14, 2009. She was born on November 9, 1914 in Malvern to the late Samuel Ewell and Natalie Smith Henry. After her mother died when Betty was four years old, she was reared and educated in Livingston , Texas , by her aunt and uncle, Alice and Percy Douglas. She spent summers in Malvern with her father and his family. Betty taught school for a number of years and also worked for the Texas State Employment Security Division. Her Malvern family were members of First United Methodist Church , where she also attended. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Livingston , Texas while a resident there. Betty led a very quiet life and loved her cats dearly.

She is survived by two nieces, Natalie Thompson Gilmore and her husband, Don of Spokane, Washington, and Barbara Thompson of White , Georgia .

Betty was also preceded in death by three sisters, Natalie Henry, Cala Sue Henry Thompson, and Martha Ann Henry Hall; and by two brothers, William Nat Henry and James D. (Jim) Henry.

A graveside service will be held on the Henry Family Plot in Oak Ridge Cemetery at ten o'clock Tuesday morning, June 16, 2009.
