Betty Evelyn Rice, age 78 of Magnet Cove, died Sunday, December 11, 2022, in Hot Springs.  She was born in Malvern on December 4, 1944, to the late Vances Cogburn and Hattie Echols Cogburn.  Reared and educated in Malvern, she was a retired Certified Nurses Assistant, having worked for many years at Longmeadow Nursing Home.  She was a Baptist.  Betty loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed being outdoors.  She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.  Betty watched over her family and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was the widow of the late Leonard Rice, who preceded her in death in 2014.

She is survived by her children, Vanessa Robinson (Donald), Amanda McKim (Daniel), Violet Marie Crabtree, and Bridgett Nicole Dickinson; three sisters, Beverly Holmes, Rose Montgomery and Linda Dixon; 13 grandchildren, Skylar Rose Sherlock, Gary Lynn Sherlock, Ashton James Rhodes, Austin Rhodes, Lee Stacks, Hope Michelle Passmore, Catherine Phillips, Jonathan Dickinson, Elizabeth Dickinson, Joann Lunsford, Elizabeth Mahan, Jason Brownfield, and Sherry Fulmer; 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Betty was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Leonard Rice, two brothers, Dennis Cogburn and Buster Jack Darrell Cogburn; and by a sister, Vanna Sue Cogburn.

A memorial service will be held on Friday afternoon, December 30, 2022 at four o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
