Bobbie Gibbs, 83 of Malvern died Monday, May 12, 2014 in the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on August 6, 1930 to the late James Clyde French and Alma Lee Pollard French. Reared and educated in Malvern, she owned and operated a beauty shop for 20 years. She later went into business as a tax preparer, owning an H & R Block franchise in Malvern. She was an avid reader and loved being with family. She was the wife of A. G. "Red" Gibbs of Malvern, to whom she was married on July 16, 1948.

Other survivors include her children, Angel Melton of Malvern, Cindy and James Harp, of Malvern, and Melony Ward of Mt. Pine, Arkansas; a sister, Marguerite Cranford and Russell of Malvern; five grandchildren, Danah Beard, Stacie Thompson, Justin Harp, Ashley Ward and Amber Ward; and six great-grandchildren, Emilee Hudspeth, Olivia Stanage, Noah Stanage, Eli Thompson, Christian Harp, and Daphne Harp, and by a special family member, Peggy Lusinger.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Jean Foster, a grandchild, Paige Ward, and a great-grandchild, Erin Thompson.

The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, May 14, 2014 from six until seven-thirty.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in the Rest Haven Cemetery with Brother Buddy Lemons officiating.

The family expresses its gratitude to Dr. Bruce Burton, the staff at HSC Med Center, and ICU South at Baptist Health in Little Rock.

Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
