Bobby Jack Geer, age 69, of Malvern, died Friday, May 23, 2008 in McAllen, Texas. He was born on July 26, 1938 in Westminster, Texas, to the late Grady Lee and Sarah Elizabeth Stroud Geer. Reared and receiving his early education in Texas, he attended junior and senior high school in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The early part of his career was spent in law enforcement. Bobby worked for the Malvern Police Department and for the Hot Spring County Sheriff's Department from the early 1960's until the early 1970's. During that time, he was honored by being selected as the "Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Officer of the Year" by the Malvern Jaycees. He later built a small fleet of trucks and operated, along with his wife, for over 20 years, what became Geer Transportation, Inc. Over the years, he was the recipient of various safe-driving awards. Bobby enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially playing golf and gardening. He belonged to the IOOF and the Malvern Country Club. Bobby was baptized at Taylor's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in 1974. He was the widower of the late Carol Anne Brooks Geer, to whom he was married on September 11, 1956 in Indianola, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2006. Bobby was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny V. Geer, and by a grandson, Eric Pikey.

Survivors include two sons, Jackie Lee Geer and his wife, Kristie, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Bryan Shawn Geer and his wife Ashley, of Malvern; two daughters, Tina Darlene Galloway and her husband Herbert, and Tanya Gayle Parrish, all of Malvern; four grandchildren, Brandi Michell Burnworth, Christopher Pikey, Shay Geer, and Korey Geer; by three great-grandchildren, Bradley, Walter and Cassie Pikey; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Knippa and her husband Freddie, of Anna, Texas; and by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His funeral will be eleven o'clock Thursday morning, May 29, 2008, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverend James Batts officiating.

Interment will follow in Rockport Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: RoyDel Dickerson, Tracy and Phillip Knippa, Chris Pikey, Korey Geer, and Herbert Galloway.

Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from six until eight at the mortuary.
