Bobby Dean Overton, age 83 of Malvern, died Sunday, September 21, 2014. He was born on July 5, 1931 in Willow, Arkansas to the late Rufus H. Overton and Virgie Mae Funk Overton. Reared and educated in Lono, Arkansas, he was in the last class to graduate from the Lono School. He was a shift foreman for Reynolds Metals for 25.5 years, and worked for Reynolds International in Iran and Venezuela as a cast house superintendent for five and one-half years. He also did aluminum contract work in Brazil and Norway, where he received specialized training. He retired in the late 1980's. Bobby was a member of the Church of Faith. He also was a member of the RDX Hunting Club, Andy's Coffee Klatch, and the Bethlehem Lodge #338, Leola, Arkansas. Bobby used to sing with the MidSouth Boys quartet.
He is survived by his wife, Sydney S. Overton, to whom he was married on April 6, 1973; by his children, Jimmy Overton and his wife Cindy of Oklahoma, Tommy Overton of Hot Springs, Todd Overton and his wife Cheryl of Malvern, and Kristi Overton Efird and her husband Scott, of Malvern; by two brothers, Cletis Overton and his wife Adrienne, and Herman Overton and his wife, Joyce, all of Malvern; one sister, Mary Lee Mohler and her husband Bob, of California; seven grandchildren, Jimmy D. Overton, Lacy Andrew, Cori Lynn Overton, Todd Michael Overton, Cody McMahan, Dakota Andersen, and Kazz Efird.
Bobby was also preceded in death by two brothers, Doland and Harold Overton, a daughter, Juanita Overton, and a grandson, Dustin Overton.
The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, September 23, 2014, from five until seven o'clock.
The funeral will be held at ten o'clock Wednesday morning in the funeral home chapel with Brother Scott Efird officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in the Lono Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Todd Overton, Todd Michael Overton, Roy Overton, Jimmy Overton, Jr., John Allan Funk, and Phillip Hunt.
Memorials are requested to Lono Cemetery, c/o Tammy Harrell, 1959 Gray Loop, Leola, AR 72084.
