Obituary

Brenda June Kemp Carr, age 73 of Malvern, died May 29, 2024, at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was born in Malvern on July 29, 1950, to the late Thomas (Tom) Kemp and Eleanore Overbeck Kemp. She graduated from Malvern High School in 1968 and spent most of her career in banking. Brenda grew up attending First Baptist Church, Malvern. She later became a faithful member of Third Baptist Church, Malvern. After beginning to have health issues, she loved spending Sunday mornings worshipping online with her nephew, Jeff Efird, paster at The Way, Gurdon, Arkansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter HannahGrace, sisters Dinah Efird (Melvin), Sandra Jacobs Slinkard, and infant sister Vivian Ann Kemp. Brenda is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Mike Carr, whom she married 55 years ago on May 2, 1969. Mike never left her side while she was sick. She is also survived by her children Kevin and Holly Carr, and Carrie and Daniel Shisler and four beautiful grandchildren Audrey (Weston) and Mason Carr, and Evan and Eleanor (Ella) Rae Shisler and many nephews and nieces, sister and brothers in law, Janice Moore, Stephen (Kathe) Foster, Neil (Beth) Foster, and Jeffery J. (Julie) Foster.

Brenda had many loves that included shopping, Elvis Presley, The Gaithers, beautiful spring flowers, reading, and bird watching. She was most passionate about her grandchildren. She loved them fiercely, never missing a Grandparent Day, book fair, dance recital, softball or baseball game, volleyball game, cheer camp, taekwondo performance, music recital, graduations and awards ceremony, or birthday parties. Her grandchildren knew she adored them.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, at J. A. Funk Funeral Home. Services will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, at 2pm at J. A. Funk Funeral Home, with Brother Jeff Efird officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Bayou Cemetery located on Highway 84 towards Bismarck, and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Shisler, Adam Efird, Greg Moore, Weston Harp, Dylan Jacobs, and Christopher Golden.
