Brother David H. Fears, age 66, of Malvern, died Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born in Malvern on May 26, 1951 to the late A. E. (John) Fears and Martha Heath Fears. Reared and educated in Malvern, for most of his working life he was a heavy equipment operator. Brother David was pastor of Central Gospel Lighthouse for seven years. He raised chickens and rabbits, and always kept a few horses, which he enjoyed riding. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was also a fur trapper, helping many people solve their problem of pesky beavers.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Robertson Fears, to whom he was married in 1989; by two sons, Jason Lee Efird (Mindy) of Nashville, Arkansas, and Troy Don Efird (Shandy) of Malvern; a sister, Reta Douglas (Terry) of Malvern; six grandchildren, Wesley Efird, Kaylie Efird, Patrick Efird, Perri Cate Efird, Kimmi Simmons, and Kalee Simmons; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loving pup, Roxie.
Brother David was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris Baum, and a brother, L. H. Fears.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning, September 23, 2017, at ten o'clock at the Central Gospel Lighthouse with Brothers Jeff Efird and Lewis Smith officiating.
