Obituary

Carla Gay Yancey, age 50 of Hot Springs, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her home. She was born on December 1, 1965 in Malvern to Paul Peterson and Wanda Robertson Peterson. Reared and receiving her early education in Malvern, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Henderson State University, and taught school for many years. She was the wife of Bruce Yancey, to whom she was married on June 11, 1988 at Atkins Memorial United Methodist Church in Social Hill. She and her husband sponsored and fostered rescue dogs, helping to place them for adoption. Gay was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce; sisters-in-law, Jackie Smith (Jamey), Terri Javert, and Abbie Hogan (Kelly); brothers-in-law, Steven Yancey (Shannon), and Barry Yancey (Delana); father-in-law, Dorman Yancey; niece and great-nephew, Bonnie and Dalton; and her mother, Wanda.

She was preceded in death by her father, her sister, Paula, and her mother-in-law, Mary Yancey.

A gathering of family and friends celebrating Gay's life will be held at six o'clock Monday evening, March 28, 2016 in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home in Malvern with Reverend David Wilson serving as eulogist.
