Carolyn Sue Lindvall Kilgroe, 88, passed away peacefully, with dignity and grace, on August 3, 2023 at 10:45 pm. Surrounded by her son, granddaughter, and two family friends, she took her last breath while holding her daughter's hand. Her husband, Junior Samuel "JS" Kilgroe, who passed before her, is now holding her hand just as he always did all around Malvern and especially at Walmart. JS loved his "little Susie," and her feet never touched the ground during the 54 years they were married. It was love at first sight when they made eye contact walking down opposite sides of the street on Central Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas. A very shy man, JS quickly worked up the courage to cross the street and ask Carolyn Sue to go have coffee with him. It was an easy decision for Carolyn Sue, who was skipping her beauty school classes, to say "yes," and not long after, she said yes again to marrying JS on October 20, 1957.

Born on August 13, 1934 to Nickolas Leon Lindvall and Loya "Sunny" Cate Lindvall, Carolyn Sue was voted best dressed by her high school classmates, and she looked extra spiffy driving around town in her 1956 pink Ford convertible. In her younger years, Carolyn Sue always wore the latest fashions from Lindvall's Department Store, and she never left home without her hair, makeup, and nails freshly painted, much to the dismay of her children who often found themselves waiting endlessly on Carolyn Sue's nails to dry before leaving to go to Park Hill Swimming Pool. Years later, Carolyn Sue and her daughter-in-law would have endless conversations about "earbobs" and other jewelry.

Full of sass and spunk, Carolyn Sue was always ready to play. While other adults watched their children play, Carolyn Sue jumped at the opportunity to go down slides, ride roller coasters, and jump off high dives, and she loved sitting on the floor and playing paper dolls with her granddaughter while they watched Animal Planet. On August 1, 1981, she danced around the living room floor with her daughter to "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Bugles when MTV first aired, and her son sat in his yellow recliner annoyed with them dancing in front of the television set. In her late 50s, Carolyn Sue even took Taekwondo and earned her black belt, which she would say was her greatest accomplishment besides raising two rather quirky children.

Carolyn Sue is survived by her son, Nickolas Samuel Lee Kilgroe; her daughter, Sherri Lynne Kilgroe De Jesús; daughter-in-love, Pam; her granddaughter, Cagney Nicole Kilgroe; and her many furry children and grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Robert "Robby" Adamson-Bailey, Shane Draper, Ronnie Orr, Randy Orr, Andrew Blaschke, and Bernard Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Virginia Green; Jeremy Smith; Devin Lambel; Heather Grigsby, APN; employees of Lindvall's Department Store; Ruth Sunday School class members; and the nursing staff at the Malvern Baptist Health Clinic.

Visitation will be held at J.A. Funk Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 1:00 pm with the funeral service held in the same place at 2:00 pm because you could fry an egg on the pavement right now in Malvern. Brother Billy Bartlett, her pastor and fellow martial artist will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Carolyn Sue be mailed in the form of a check to the Malvern Animal Shelter at 2625 Canine Road, Malvern, AR 72104, to continue supporting Carolyn Sue's legacy of caring for animals in need and finding them forever homes.
