Catherine E. Batts, age 84 of Malvern, died Sunday, October 8, 2017. She was born on December 31, 1932 in Independence, Kansas to the late Robert and Eula Hughes. Reared and educated in Kansas, she had been a resident of Malvern since 2002. Cathy was retired from Kroger, Inc., where she worked in the administrative office. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Judson E. Batts, to whom she was married on November 5, 2005; by four sons, Richard Tapley (Debbie), Robert Tapley (Barbara), Stanley Tapley (Mikki), and Harold Tapley; two brothers, David Hughes (Rose), and Steve Hughes (Linda); and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Crane and Barbara Poor, and a brother, Charles Hughes.

Her funeral will be held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon, October 12, 2017 in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverends James Batts and Ryan Bachuss officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery at Central.

Pallbearers will be: Wayne Chandler, Scott Fite, Wallace Hall, Jerry Strother, Eric Henson and Orville Henson.

A visitation will precede the service, beginning at one o'clock.

Memorials are requested to St. Paul United Methodist Church.
