Charles Parham, age 67 of Malvern, died Friday, July 2, 2010 in Little Rock. He was born at home in Temperance Hill ( Dallas County) on October 19, 1942 to the late Wiley Jennings and Louise Ione Gray Parham. Reared and receiving his early education in Princeton, Arkansas, he graduated from Southern Arkansas University in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in music education. He completed his master's degree in 1977 at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He taught public school music in Dora, Missouri, in Wynne, and DeWitt, Arkansas, and from 1973 until 2001 taught at Malvern High School. Charles was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of the Arkansas Choral Directors Association, the Arkansas Education Association, and the National Education Association.

Charles is survived by his wife, Johnette Dalrymple Parham, to whom he was married on August 20, 1966 in Texarkana, Arkansas; by a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan C. and Susan Parham of Sherwood; by two grandchildren, Lucas and Allison Parham; by two brothers, Robert and Edward Parham; and by two sisters, Lolah Daniel and Mary Beth Mann-Garney.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Cummings, and a brother, Wiley Parham, Jr.

His funeral will be Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at one-thirty in the afternoon in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Reverend LaVon Post and David Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in Temperance Hill Cemetery in Dallas County.

Pallbearers will be: Steve Williams, Bobbie Anderson, David Alpe, Oren Culpepper, Mike Clayton, and Jess Essex.

The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Monday evening, July 5, 2010 from six until eight o'clock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to First United Methodist Church, the Arkansas Children's Hospital, or to the River City Men's Chorus.
