Charles Wayne Stone, age 87 of Malvern, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at his home. He was born at Rolla, Arkansas on January 16, 1930 to the late Jesse Stone and Leila Rucker Stone. Reared and educated in Malvern, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, after which he became a licensed welder. He had worked for Reynolds Metals, General Cable, Pirelli, and for eleven years, at Wal Mart. His last job was driving a bus for First Step. Wayne was an avid baseball, basketball, and football fan. He also enjoyed playing golf and was a pool shark. Wayne had been a baseball coach for Malvern Babe Ruth teams, and sang with the gospel group, The Mid-South Boys, along with his late brother, Karo Stone. He was a member of Rockport Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Crenshaw Ashcraft Stone, to whom he was married on January 16, 1913; by his children, Garry Stone and his wife, Marilyn, of Glen Rose; Vickie Stone Williamson and her husband, David of Hot Springs; and Ken Sams of Malvern; his siblings, Joy Siratt Gore of Malvern, Carolyn Morris of Wichita, Kansas, Diane Carver and Valarie Wiley, both of Malvern, and Billy Stone of Texarkana, Texas; by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Wayne was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse Stone, Jr. and Karo Stone, a sister, Jo Sampson, and a great-grandson, Davo Tucker.

His funeral will be on Wednesday afternoon, March 29, 2017 at two o'clock in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Brad Warren and Brother Bernard Strother officiating. Interment will follow in Lono Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at one o'clock Wednesday.

Pallbearers are: Tyler Mantooth, Orlen Wiley, Von Carver, Mark Morrisey, John Wayne Carver, and Garry Stone, Jr.
