Clarence A. "Bubba" Haley, age 68 of Malvern, died Thursday, June 14, 2007 in the Hot Spring County Medical Center. He was born in Helena, Arkansas on March 11, 1939 to the late Carroll W. and Virginia Starrett Haley. Reared and educated in Helena, he had been a resident of Malvern since 1958. Bubba retired from the Benton Service Center after having been employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 19 years. He had also worked at the AMF Bicycle Division for almost 20 years, and worked for General Motors for 2 years. He was in the United States Navy for 9 years, serving in Vietnam. Bubba was a Baptist and a member of the American Legion. He was a friend to many and could always be counted on to help anyone in need. A good neighbor, he watched over their homes when they were away, cooked for them when they were sick, offered to house their families when their homes were full, and tended their yards as well as his own.

He is survived by two brothers, John Haley of Malvern, and Donald Eugene Haley of Holly Hill, South Carolina; and by several nieces and nephews: Rebecca Haley, Toni Haley Ward, Laura Virginia Haley, Ashlyn Marie Ross, Jimmy Surman, and Jay and his wife Debbie Surman, Nick Finley, and Jonah and Joshua Surman.

Bubba was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marion Edward Surman, Jr. and Carroll W. Haley, Jr.

His funeral will be Monday morning, June 18, 2007 at ten o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverend James Batts and Dr. Verne Wickliffe officiating. Interment will follow in Cooper Cemetery.

Pallbearers are: George McClure, Jr., Danny Riggan, Bill Scrimshire, Craig Woodall, Bill Aldridge, and Jack McCoy.Honorary pallbearers are: Dr. Stephen Divers and Dr. Bruce Burton.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Sunday afternoon from five until seven o'clock.
