Obituary

Sidney Craig Woodall, age 86 of Malvern, died Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at his home.  He was born in Malvern on November 6, 1937, the youngest son of the late Lora Burns Woodall and Sidney Jefferson Woodall.  Craig was reared and educated in Malvern, and spent his entire working career here.  He started as a carrier for the Malvern Daily Record at age 11 to age 15; then worked for Malvern Amusement Company as projectionist; and sometimes assistant manager for the Ritz Theater, the Joy Theater, and Malvern Drive-in Theater.  He also worked for two years at the old Sunset Drive-in Theater in Hot Springs.  Progressing to the Malvern Daily Record again in circulation for a short time, he was promoted to Advertising Manager, holding that position for 23 years.  He left MDR to become advertising coordinator for Gibson's Discount (Kirchoff Stores, Inc.) for six and a half years, then to Davis Lumber Company as Assistant Manager for 17 years, retiring in 2002.

Craig was also preceded in death by siblings Rev. Harry (Geraldine Harkrider) Woodall, Bill (Marilyn) Woodall, Bobby Dale Woodall, Evelyn Woodall Whitener (Floyd), and their daughter, Kay.

He is survived by special nieces, Jane Smith (Doyle) of New DeRoche, and June Smith (Mike) of Bonnerdale; special grand-niece, Rhiannon Smith; special grand-nephews, John OVanic, IV, Tomas Smith, and Doyle "Trey" Smith, III; and many other nieces and nephews.

Craig's ashes will be buried beside his parents in Unity Church Cemetery, Arkadelphia, Arkansas, following a private family service to be held at a later date.
