Obituary

Danny J. Sampson, age 77 of Malvern, died Wednesday evening, January 30, 2019 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Malvern.  He was born on November 10, 1941 in Malvern to the late Everett Sampson and Helen Schultz Sampson.  Reared and receiving his early education in the Ouachita School District, he later attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia.  Danny owned and operated Sampson's Grocery and Station in Donaldson for a number of years, managed the local Western Sizzlin restaurant for 14 years, and worked for Secretary of State Winston Bryant at the state capitol in Little Rock.  Danny was an avid fisherman and deer hunter.  He was involved in the Kairos Prison Ministry, delivered Meals on Wheels, and cared for senior citizens.  Danny was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Malvern.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Moore Sampson, to whom he was married on March 22, 1968; by his adopted children, William and April Witcher, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Danny was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Hammond.

Graveside services will be at three o'clock Monday afternoon, February 4, 2019 in the Ouachita Cemetery near Donaldson, Arkansas with Father Phillip Reeves officiating and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Meals on Wheels program at Malvern Senior Center.
