David F. Draper, age 67 of Donaldson, died Saturday morning, December 26, 2009 at his home. He was born in Hot Spring County on January 23, 1942 to the late Joe and Nova Jean Foster Draper. Reared and educated in Hot Spring County, he was a graduate of Ouachita High School . David worked for a number of years at Toler's Grocery, and remained an employee there after it became Mitchell's Model Market. He had also worked in the logging industry. David was an avid Razorback fan, following the Hogs in both football and basketball. In the spring of each year, he would always begin a garden, nurturing his crops until harvest time. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church , Donaldson.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Skinner Draper, to whom he was married on January 14, 1961 at the home of Brother Connie Norwood in Donaldson; by his four children, Leah Kay Draper Rice of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joe David Draper of Malvern, Monica Yvette Morrison and her husband Denver of Columbus, Georgia, and Keith Franklin Draper and his wife Shelia of Malvern; by 14 grandchildren, Beth Jenkins, Candice Romick, Cecil Rice, Victoria Rice, Stephen Morrison, Spencer Morrison, Ashley Morrison, Scott Morrison, Kayla Lamb, Leslie Draper, Trey Draper, April Casey, James Tims, and Elizabeth Smith; 16 great-grandchildren; by his siblings, Donald and Barbara Williams Draper, Clyde and Linda Draper, Roger and Mary Draper, Barbara Draper, and Becky and Darrell Hughes, all of Malvern; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at two o'clock Monday afternoon, December 28, 2009 in the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church , Donaldson, with Brothers Alex Skinner and Eric Ivy officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery .
Pallbearers are: Stephen Morrison, Spencer Morrison, Scott Morrison, Jacob Lamb, Cecil Rice, and Darren Ivy.
Honorary pallbearer will be Trey David Draper.
The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from four until six o'clock.
