Donald E. "Crane" Stumon, age 67, of Lake Catherine, died early this morning in Hot Springs. He was born on April 22, 1947 in Malvern to the late George Lynn Stumon and Annie Estelle Fite Stumon. Reared and receiving his early education in Malvern, he later attended technical training school in Chicago. Crane was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion, and a former member of the Malvern Jaycees. He was a Baptist by denomination. For 40 years he worked for Mid-State Construction Company (now Martin-Marrietta) and retired as asphalt superintendent. Crane was a former member of the Hill Hunting Club, doted on his grandchildren, and enjoyed sitting on his deck overlooking the lake.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Cook Stumon, of the home, to whom he was married on October 14, 1989; his son, Brad Stumon and his wife, Ashley of Malvern; his daughter, Casey Stumon Haynes and Ryan Haynes of Malvern; his step-son, Mike Funk and his wife, Nikki of Alexander, Arkansas; his brother, Richard Stumon and his wife Monette of Malvern; two sisters, Vivian and her husband Wayne Brumbelow of New Mexico, and Charlotte and her husband Donnie Holiman of Malvern; by seven grandchildren, Haven Stumon, Braden Stumon, Kyndal Haynes, Lillie Haynes, Austin Ray, and Brock and Addison Funk. His pets include Cutie Pie, Zipper, Miss Priss, Cotey, and Simba.

A memorial service will be held at two o'clock Friday afternoon, June 13, 2014, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Mike Funk speaking. Following the ceremony, full military honors will be presented outside, weather permitting.
