Obituary

Donald J. Tanner, age 74 of Malvern, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday evening, July 25, 2021, at UAMS in Little Rock, after becoming ill at his home.  He was born on October 25, 1946, in Malvern to the late Raymond Tanner and Floy Jean Tillery Tanner. Reared and educated in California and Malvern, he graduated from Glen Rose High School in 1964.  Donald retired from Entergy after 35 years of service with the company.  He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He worked on old cars and went to car shows.  He was also an avid reader.  Donald was a Methodist.  He was the husband of Susan Stiles Tanner, to whom he was married on October 4, 1969.

He leaves behind his wife, Susan; his son, Will Tanner; three brothers, Charlie Tanner and his wife, Marsha, Marshall "Gent" Tanner and his wife, Cathy, and Raymond "Punch" Tanner, all of Malvern; and two sisters, Sherry Wright and her husband, L. D. of Arkadelphia, and June Ann Porter and her husband, Bill, of Jacksonville.

Due to the risks incurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a private funeral and burial.

Memorials may take the form of donations to the Mary Cheatham Malvern/Hot Spring County Library, or to CARTI in Little Rock.
