Dorothy E. Hemphill, age 91 of Malvern, died Wednesday evening, April 14, 2010 in the Hot Spring County Medical Center. She was born on January 29, 1919 in Hutchinson, Kansas to the late Clem and Hazel Plush. Reared and educated in Kansas, she was the first female credit manager for the Kansas Power and Light Company, and retired after 33 years of service. She worked her way up the ladder having begun as a meter reader at the age of 16. Mrs. Hemphill was an Episcopalian and a member of the Moose Lodge. She loved to dance. Mrs. Hemphill was also preceded in death by her husbands, Delmer Law and Wayne Hemphill, and by one sister.

Her survivors include a son, Donald Law and his wife LaDonna Turpin of Malvern; by a brother, Richard Plush of Topeka, Kansas; by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

There will be no local services. Her body will be transported to Heritage Funeral Home in Hutchinson, Kansas, and a private graveside service will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 in Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson.
