Obituary

Earlene E. Medlin, age 86 of Malvern, died Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Hot Springs. She was born on March 29, 1936, in LaFlore County, Oklahoma to the late Charles Halpain and Virgie Essman Halpain. She was reared and educated in Malvern, having moved here with her family at the age of eight years. Earlene was the widow of the late Robert Jackson Medlin, to whom she was married on June 21, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Earlene loved quilting and embroidery, and she doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Medlin (Cheryl) of Malvern, Doug Medlin of Rolla, Trent Medlin (Janet) of Rolla, and Pam Helms of Butterfield; by two brothers, Eugene Halpain of Oregon and Don Halpain of Missouri; by five sisters, Truby Medlin of Oregon, Lueva Langley of Benton, Carolyn Black of Oklahoma, Peggy Perryman of Alexander, Arkansas, and Ruth Hancock of Malvern; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Earlene was also preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and one step-sister.

Visitation at J. A. Funk Funeral Home will be from six until eight o'clock Wednesday evening, May 18, 2022. The funeral will be Thursday morning at ten o'clock in the funeral home chapel with Brother Scott Efird officiating. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Sam Stewart, James Medlin, Randall Halpain, Roy Halpain, Brian Loy, and Ron Patterson.
