Eleanor K. Cook, age 82 of Malvern, died Wednesday evening, August 31, 2011, in the National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs . She was born in Honolulu , Hawaii on March 18, 1929 to the late Shuryo Nishihira and Helen Watata Nishihira. Reared and educated in Hawaii , she had been a Malvern resident since 1965. Eleanor was a homemaker and had worked at Arbor Oaks for 15 years. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church . Eleanor loved to bake for her family and to tend her flowers. She was the widow of the late Robert Cook, to whom she was married on April 2, 1950 in Hawaii . He preceded her in death on October 11, 2005.
She is survived by two daughters, Edna Cook, and Anna Bennett and her husband Tim, all of Malvern, a son, Carl and his wife Judy Cook, of Rockport; a sister, Janet Fukumoto of Mililani Town , Hawaii , two grandchildren Benjamin Bennett and Carrie and her husband Jason Blankenship; and by three great-grandchildren, Cory, Nathan, and Camie Blankenship.
Eleanor was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Cook, and a grandson, Jeff Cook.
Her funeral will be at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, September 3, 2011 in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverends Chat Hart and Darrell Teeter officiating. As per her wishes, the body will be cremated.
Visitation will precede the funeral, beginning at one o'clock.
Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Fred Divers and staff for the loving and professional care of their mother.
Eleanor's family will be headquartered at 501 Hall Street , Malvern.
