James Eric Thomson, age 36 of Glen Rose, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at his home. He was born in Helena, Arkansas on October 11, 1984, to James Thomson and the late Juanita Sanders Thomson. He was educated in and graduated from Glen Rose High School. Eric had a passion for fishing with all his family and friends and trapped with his father and granddad. He loved sports and played football and basketball in school. He was happy to have been able to coach third grade at Glen Rose when his son Parker was on the team. They won the championship that year, and then he coached his youngest son, Wade. Eric worked as a foreman at DownRiver for many years.
He attended Glen Rose Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Parker Thomson, to whom he was married on July 12, 2013; by four sons, Jonathan, Jesse, Parker, and Wade; a daughter Chamberlain Marie Mae Thomson; his father and stepmother, Jimmy and Ruth Ann Thomson; one brother, Patrick Thomson and his wife, Dawn; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robbie and Stephanie Parker and Laura and David Collins, and three men who were like brothers, Jeff Beck, Casey Clement, and John Kenny; eight first cousins and seven second cousins; parents-in-law, Robert and Cathy Parker, aunts and uncles, Ruth and Sid Snyder, Roy Thomson and his wife, Donna; William and Sheila Thomson; Hallie and Paul Osborn, Lois Smith, Wanda and R. L. Vannatter; and David Long; a host of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Eric was also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, June 12, 2021, at three o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
