Eugene Brooks, age 63 of Malvern, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the Hot Spring County Medical Center. He was born on February 7, 1945 in Bismarck, Arkansas to the late Harvey T. and Betty Phillips Brooks. Reared and receiving his early education in Malvern, he later attended cooking school under the G. I. Bill at Ouachita Technical College. He worked in the die-casting department for Precision Industries for over 20 years, and for the past 15 years has been a maintenance worker for Wal Mart. Eugene was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, a Baptist, a talented cook, and an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Cotton Brooks of the home, to whom he was married on July 20, 1994; by a son, Andrew Brooks, also of Malvern; by three sisters, Shirley and her husband Jimmy Voss of Malvern; Mary Lou and her husband Paul Henson of Blevins, Arkansas; and Barbara and her husband Elton Rimmer of Malvern; by a brother, Roy Brooks of Malvern; by three half-brothers, Lonnie Johnson, Roger Dale Johnson, and Jimmy Johnson; by two half-sisters, Joanne Dees and Carla Johnson, and by his mother-in-law, Treva Reynolds Cotton of Malvern.

His funeral will be held at ten o'clock Wednesday morning, June 18, 2008, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Ken Voss, Wayne Reynolds, Brian Loy, Matt Banks, Brach Williams, and Colton Adams.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Tuesday evening from six until eight o'clock.
