Mr. Floyd W. Songer, age 87, of Malvern, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at his home. He was born in Friendship, Arkansas on February 25, 1927 to the late Jack Songer and Izora Roberts Songer. Mr. Songer served in the United States Air Force from 1946 until 1949. He retired from American Airlines as ground supervisor in 1983. Mr. Songer enjoyed working as ring man, and later as gate man for Stafford Auction. He was an avid woodworker and had a very impressive workshop. He was a Jehovah Witness.
He is survived by six children, Brenda Songer Gregory of Malvern, Lynda Allen of Missouri, Gary Songer of Willow, Gerald Songer of Malvern, Reni (John) Kelley of Oklahoma, and Craig Milden of Malvern; a brother, Billy Jack (Alaine) Songer, and a sister Lois Power, all of Hot Springs; 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and by lots of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mr. Songer was also preceded in death by two wives, Maxine Treadway Songer and Phyllis Hammett Songer; a son, David Songer, a grandson, Dwayne Siratt, and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday afternoon, October 16, 2014, at two o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
