Frederick M. Jones, Sr., age 92 of College Park, Maryland, died Thursday, January 7, 2016. He was born in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas on September 8, 1923. His family owned a farm in the Central Community in Hot Spring County, where he was reared and received his early education. He was a graduate of Central High School. Moving north during World War 2, he was an instrument maker at a naval ordnance factory. He later transferred to the Department of Agriculture, subsequently opening his own heavy equipment and construction company in the late 1950's in College Park. His local kin include the Williams and Jones families in the Central community and Donaldson area. He was the widower of the late Nadine Jones.

His survivors include his children, Jeff Jones (Gretchen), Fred M. Jones, Jr., and Kay Hedge (Morie); brothers, Chester Jones of Central and Elmer Jones of California; grandchildren, Kevin Hedge, Nathan Hedge, Brian Jones, and Kelly Jones; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon, January 16, 2016, from one until two o'clock, with the funeral service beginning at two o'clock. Mr. Jones's grandson, Reverend Nathan Hedge, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Ouachita Cemetery at Donaldson, Arkansas.
