Obituary

Freeman DeRay "Ray" Scholes, age 49, of Malvern, died Friday, October 30, 2015 in Little Rock. He was born on May 19, 1966 in Malvern to Mary Scott Scholes and the late Robert Eugene Scholes. Reared and educated in Malvern, he was a graduate of Malvern High School. Ray was a veteran of the United States Army, and spent two years stationed in Germany. He had been an officer with the Malvern Police Department, the Hot Spring County Sheriff's Department, and had worked for the Arkansas Department of Correction Ouachita River Unit. Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Scott Scholes of Malvern; by two sisters, Lisa Scholes of Malvern, and Bobbie Jean Ross of Donaldson; by a daughter, Jessica Scholes; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Scholes, who died in 2013.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday afternoon, November 5, 2015, at two o'clock, in the fellowship hall of Liberty Chapel Church, 414 Rockport Street in North Malvern, with Brother Jerry Garrett officiating.
