George
Baker
Aug 6, 1951 — Jan 24, 2025
Malvern
George Ellis Baker, age 73 of Malvern, died Friday, January 24, 2025 at his home. He was born on August 6, 1951 in Malvern to the late Doyle Baker and Barbara Clemons Baker. Reared and receiving his early education in Hot Spring County, he attended Magnet Cove Schools. George was the husband of Terri Lucas Baker, to whom he was married on June 5, 2010. George had a varied career: he worked for Reynolds Metals until the shutdown in the mid '80s; he was an instructor in HVAC at Ouachita Vo-Tech; and served as a sheriff's deputy in Hot Spring County under the administrations of 8 different Sheriffs. He loved Western movies and cop shows. One goal he worked on for years, but never came to fruition, was starting a county-wide horse rescue program. He rescued many horses himself over the years, and loved every minute of caring for the animals. He was an imposing figure, standing 6'7", but was a gentle giant.
He is survived by his wife, Terri; a daughter, Virginia Haydel of Texas; a brother, Allen Baker (Melinda) of Mississippi; a sister, Bonnie Sorrels of Florida; and many friends.
George was also preceded in death by his brother, Don Baker, and two sisters, Annice Hendrix and Molly Jo Burks.
The family will have a memorial service and celebration of George's life in the spring.
