Gleason McGuire, age 87 of Alexander, Arkansas, died Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in Little Rock. He was born on October 30, 1938 in Arkadelphia to the late David William McGuire and Marie Whitley McGuire. Reared and educated in Malvern, he spent most of his career as a pipeline welder for Bechtel Group. Gleason was a Christian. He loved to visit with his friends, and enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
Gleason was also preceded in death by six siblings, Horace Lee McGuire, Harrison McGuire, Murph McGuire, Reba Jean White, Agee Hall, and Floy Strother.
He is survived by his “guardian angel”, Pamela Cook; two sisters-in-law, Margaret McGuire Saunders of Midway and Pat McGuire of Bryant; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, July 23, 2026, at 10:00, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Gleason’s nephew, James McGuire, leading the service. A visitation will precede the service, beginning at 9:00. Interment will follow in Social Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
