Mr. Glenn A. Martin, age 86, of Malvern, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 in the Hot Spring County Medical Center. He was born on April 10, 1922 in Stamps, Arkansas to the late John Watson and Ester Hodnett Martin. Reared in Stamps, he left school after the third grade to take up work to help support his family. He subsequently became a supervisor for Brown and Root Construction Company, working there for 25 years until his retirement. Mr. Martin was a loving father and grandfather, and loved to pick on his kids and grandkids. He was an avid fisherman, loved raising chickens and guineas, and taking care of his dogs. Mr. Martin was also quite fond of chewing tobacco. His first wife, and the mother of his children, Ruth Ward Martin, preceded him in death on December 25, 1976. They were married on December 25, 1940 in Waldron, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Martin, of Malvern, to whom he was married on November 7, 1977 in Oklahoma; by two sons, Paul and his wife Lila Martin of Texarkana, Texas, John Martin and his wife Francis Martin of Houston, Texas, by a daughter, Judy Martin of Klamath Falls, Oregon; by eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at two o'clock Monday afternoon, October 20, 2008, in the Union Cemetery near Bodcaw, Arkansas with Brother Wesley Howard officiating, and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
