Obituary

Gwendolyn Arlene Phillips Hughes, of Malvern, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024.  As a young woman, Gwendolyn studied to be a classical pianist, showcasing her musical talent by performing a piano solo at the Decatur Masonic Temple in Decatur, Illinois.  She was interested in multiple music genres and was an admirer of Willie Nelson.  A lifelong reader, she was an avid fan of mysteries by authors such as Agatha Christie and R. D. James.  For over 30 years, she and her husband, Clyde, owned and operated a local landscaping business.

She is survived by daughters, Nancy Jenkins and her husband Bobby, of Malvern, and Rebecca Coltrain and her husband, George, of Batesville; a son, Phillip Hughes of Malvern; five grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica, Andrew, Zoey, and Phoebe; and three great-grandchildren, Cheyanne, Dalton, and Lily.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hughes, and her parents, James and Erma Phillips.

In keeping with Gwendolyn's wishes, there will not be a formal service.
