Hansel E. Burris, age 80 of Malvern, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 in the St. Joseph Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs . He was born on September 26, 1930 in the DeRoche Community near Caney in Hot Spring County to the late Elmer J. Burris and Pearl Simonds Burris. Reared and educated in Hot Spring County, he was the owner of Burris Electric Service for over 50 years. Hansel was a Baptist and loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Melva McMahan Burris, to whom he was married on January 12, 1952; by his daughters, Judy Burris Hobbs and her husband Chris, and Brenda Burris Paul and her husband Mike, all of Malvern; two sisters, Melva and her husband Bo Boyett, and Juanita and her husband Lyndal Whitley, all of Malvern; two brothers and their wives, Charles and Sharon Burris, and Leon and Patty Burris, all of Donaldson; five grandchildren, Vance, Kevin, and Travis Paul, and Jason and Caleb Hobbs; two great-grandchildren, Haley and Cameron Paul; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Burris was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Burris and Haskill Burris.
Visitation will be on Saturday evening, August 13, 2011, from six until eight o'clock at J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
The funeral will be on Monday morning, August 15, at ten o'clock, in the J. A. Funk chapel with Brothers Jerry Garrett and Robert Newton officiating. Interment will follow in Old DeRoche Cemetery .
Pallbearers are: David and Ken Whitley, Gary, Jerry Don, and Scott Boyett, and Jeff Burris.
Honorary pallbearer is Jimmy Whitley.
