Harold Lee "Pop" Johnson, age 72 of Rolla, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs. He was born in Rolla, Arkansas on February 1, 1939 to the late Pat B. V. Johnson and Gladys Eason Johnson. Reared and receiving his early education in the Fairview Schools, he graduated from Malvern High School. He retired from Reynolds Metals as a mill right after 28 years with the company. He was a logger with Johnson Logging and P & M Logging from 1989 until 2003. "Pop" coached Jr. Babe Ruth for a number of years while his kids played. He was a member of the L'eau Fraiz United Methodist Church and the Bethlehem Lodge, #338, F & AM.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Kreider Johnson of Jessieville, Arkansas, to whom he was married on November 8, 2003; by three sons, Micheal Lee and Beverly Johnson, James Mark Johnson, all of Malvern, and Mark Curtis and Gayla Johnson of Sheridan; by a daughter, Sandra Gail Johnson of Malvern; his step-children, Gerald Robinson of Little Rock, Richard and Melissa Hanney, and Gayle and Toby Gathright, all of Locksburg, Arkansas; two brothers, J. M. Johnson and Peggy of Malvern, and David Johnson and Janice of Portland, Oregon; a sister, Ozell Johnson of Malvern, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson of Hot Springs; eight grandchildren, Amanda Collie, Tray Catlett, Jenilee Huggins, Dustin Ray Johnson, Jena Marie Johnson, Brooke Johnson, T. J. Johnson, and Jaclyn Michelle Johnson; by six step-grandchildren, and by eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife and the mother of his children, Johnette Wallace Johnson.
"Pop" was also preceded in death by a brother, R. V. Johnson.
Visitation at J. A. Funk Funeral Home will be on Tuesday evening from six until eight o'clock.
His funeral will be Wednesday afternoon, April 27, 2011, at two o'clock, in the L'eau Fraiz Unite Interment will follow in the L'eau Fraiz Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Richard Sulton, Ronnie Ledbetter, Jace Ledbetter, Curt Crawford, Dennis Massey, and Dennis Nix.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs.
The family will be headquartered at Ozell Johnson's residence, 2331 Landers Road, Malvern.
Memorials are requested to either L'eau Fraiz United Methodist Church, or the L'eau Fraiz Cemetery Assosicaion.
