Iva Mae Voss, age 82 of Malvern, died Friday in the National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. She was born in Donaldson, Arkansas on January 11, 1931 to the late Isaac Ansey McDermott and Mary Melvina Sandage McDermott. Reared and educated in Donaldson, she worked at the Malvern Daily Record for over 35 years. While employed there, she had been a typesetter, built ads, was a proofreader and department manager. Iva was a member of Second Baptist Church. She loved to read, to crochet, and was a wonderful cook. Iva was the widow of the late Willard Voss, to whom she was married on October 3, 1952 in Donaldson. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2012.

She is survived by her son Chris Voss and his wife Laura of El Dorado, Arkansas; by her daughter Phyllis Voss Dial of Malvern; by four grandchildren, Heather, Ben, Beth, and Rebecca; by three great-grandchildren, Hallie, Sarah, and Annemarie; by four brothers, Lyle McDermott of Harp, Hollis McDermott (Patsy) of Brown Springs, Carlon McDermott (Patsy) of Magnet Cove, and Ben McDermott (Linda) of Fairplay; and a sister-in-law, Irma Voss Warner of Magnet Cove.

Iva was also preceded in death by a son-in-law Rick Dial, and by two brothers, Kenneth and Gene McDermott.

Her funeral will be at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, October 16, 2013 in the sanctuary of Second Baptist Church with Brothers Joey McDermott and John Chandler officiating. Interment will be in Ouachita Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, October 15, from six until eight o'clock.
