James David "J. D." Ledbetter. Age 56 of Cocoa, Florida, died unexpectedly on October 22, 2024 in Rockledge, Florida.  He was born on December 9, 1967 in Davenport, Iowa, to Mary Jim Baker Ledbetter and the late Sammy Lee Ledbetter.  Reared and educated in Bettendorf, Iowa, he was a graduate of Bettendorf High School, where he was a member of the school band and the swim team.  J. D. was active in the Boy Scouts, delivered papers many years for the Quad-City Times, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Bettendorf.  He was a sous chef for a number of hotels and restaurants over the years, working at the Delta Hotel and Tu Tu Tango.  While living in Florida, he built and serviced swimming pools for Blue Marlin Pools.  J. D. was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Jim Ledbetter of Malvern; his son, Josh Goodman of Cocoa, Florida; three sisters, Linda Grace Huddleston (David) of Hot Springs, Laralei Elisabeth Ledbetter (Pete Davis) of Mesquite, Texas, and Lola Layne Buttgen (Dean) of Gretna, Nebraska; aunts, Sarita Baker of Hackett, Arkansas, and June Baker Jefferson of West Fork, Arkansas; his nieces and nephews, Zach, Serena, Sabrina, Coleman, Collier, Grace, Dominic, Emara, John Paul Samuel, Jayden, Gabriella, Arrianna, Karson, and Azucena.

His funeral will be at 3:00 Friday afternoon, November 1, 2024, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

Memorials are requested to the American Diabetes Association, or the the local Animal Rescue.
