James Troy Davis , age 84 of the Diamondhead community near Hot Springs , died Saturday, April 25, 2009 in Hot Springs . He was born in Malvern on October 2, 1924 to the late Clyde Franklin and Alice Pauline Clem Davis. Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy, retiring after 30 years of service. He served in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam . For several years after his military service, he worked in hospital administration. He was active in the Kairos Prison Ministry in California and Arkansas . Jim also served as Eucharist minister, and was active in the ministry of the Catholic Church, of which he was a member for many years.

He is survived by his sons, Jim and his wife, Joette Davis of Melbourne Beach, Florida; Mark and his wife Sheri Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jack Zyphur and his wife Janet of San Diego, California; a daughter, Janet Gellens of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers, Robert and Jack Davis of Malvern; many grand and great-grandchildren.

Jim was also preceded in death by his wives, Kay Spitzer Davis and Joyce Davis, and by two brothers, Franklin and Edward Davis.

His body is being shipped to San Diego , California , where graveside services will be held at a later date.Local arrangements are by J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
