James W. Lyons, age 84, former Malvern resident and currently of Bentonville, Arkansas, died Monday, June 19, 2023, in Bentonville.  He was born in Malvern on October 16, 1938, to the late William "Buster" Lyons and Molly Phillips Lyons.  Reared and educated in Malvern, he was a longtime member of Third Baptist Church.  Jim was the widower of the late Betty Cox Lyons, to whom he was married on November 26, 1960.  She preceded him in death on December 28, 2007.  Jim worked for Union Carbide Corporation in operations/maintenance for many years.  He loved to hunt and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his daughters, Becky Lewallen (Roger), and Phyllis Lyons, all of Bentonville; a brother, Charles Lyons of Taylor, Arkansas; two sisters, Jean Brumley (W. J.) of Malvern, and Bobbye Clark (Richard) of Columbus, Georgia; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Burks Swaim, William Burks (Jessica), Preston Littrell, Hope Littrell, and Brittany Prince; and by two great-grandchildren, Kiara Burks and Brayden Burks.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 Friday morning, June 23, 2023, at Cypress Cemetery in Willow under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Friday afternoon at Third Baptist Church with Dr. Verne Wickliffe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Third Baptist Church Filling Station, Malvern.
