James Gerald Ross, age 78, of Hot Springs, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at St. Vincent in Hot Springs. He was born on August 8, 1938 in Holly Springs, Arkansas to the late Fred E. Ross and Bernice House Ross. Reared and receiving his education in Holly Springs, he moved to Malvern in 1959. For most of his working life, Mr. Ross was employed at Malvern Wood Products and Curtis Saw Mill as a planer feeder. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to drive his truck. Gerald was a member of the Rugged Cross Cowboy Church in Magnolia.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Moore Ross of Hot Springs, to whom he was married on May 19, 1972 in Magnolia, Arkansas; by a son, Fred "Sonny Boy" Ross and his wife, Amanda of Hot Springs; brother-in-law and his wife, Reverend Wayne and Lisa Moore of Mt. Pine, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Donald Efird of Malvern; his aunt, Mildred Witherspoon of Malvern; uncle, Cecil House and wife, Irene of Little Rock; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Gerald was also preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Ross, and two sisters, Freddie J. Ross and Lois Efird.
A memorial service will be held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 18, 2017, at the Living Waters Full Gospel Church in Malvern with Reverend Wayne Moore and Reverend Mike Launius officiating.
