James M. Spears, age 60, of Malvern, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, April 26, 2007. He was born in Malvern on November 28, 1946 to George M. and the late Opal Jane Campbell Spears. Reared and educated in California, he was a carpenter by trade.He is survived by his father, George, of Malvern; by a son, James Spears, Jr. of La Mesa, California; by three brothers: Frank Freitas of Idaho, Sidney Freitas, and Jack Freitas, both of California; by two sisters: Mary Jane Spears of Malvern, and Patricia Land of Prescott, Arkansas; and by his nieces and nephews: Georgena, Brenda, Courtney, Amanda, Michael, Chris, Allen, and Kayla. A memorial service will be held on Monday afternoon, April 30, 2007, at two o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with the Reverend James Batts officiating.
