Janie Lee Whitaker Jenkins, age 93 of Bellaire, Texas, formerly of Malvern, Arkansas, died Monday, April 08, 2013, in Houston, Texas. She was born on February 5, 1920 in Sheridan, Arkansas to the late Dave Whitaker and Jessie Duncan Whitaker. Her father died when she was very young, and she was reared by her mother and step-father, Frank Wilson. She was the widow of the late Doyle Jenkins, to whom she was married on September 2, 1939. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1994. Mrs. Jenkins was a cosmetologist and for over 40 years, she owned and operated Janie's Beauty Shop in the Dyer Street Shopping Center in Malvern. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. Mrs. Jenkins moved to Texas in 2007 to be near her family.

Survivors include her son, David Jenkins and his wife Darla of Bellaire, Texas; three grandchildren, John Jenkins, Mike Jenkins (Rachel), and Martha Hillin (Jim); six great-grandchildren, Bryant and Connor Jenkins, and Christopher, Lauren, Drake, and Riley Hillin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Frederick Wilson, Charles Wilson, Woody Wilson, Bob Wilson, and Herbert Whitaker; and by two sisters, Pauline Glover and Lorene Homan.

Graveside services will be held at eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, April 13, 2013 in the Rockport Cemetery with Brothers Temon Jenkins and Lyndale Harberson officiating.

The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Friday evening from six until eight o'clock, and all other times will be at 1719 Regency Drive in Malvern.
