Janie Motes, age 76, of Malvern, died Thursday, March 10, 2022 in Hot Springs. She was born Mary Jane Black on December 8, 1945 in Malvern, to the late Albert A. Black and Mary Belle Kemp Black. She graduated from Leola High School. Janie was a Certified Nurses Assistant. She had worked for Malvern Nursing Home for 20+ years, for Stillmeadow (Arbor Oaks), and for Hot Spring County Medical Center. The kindness and compassion she showed the patients for whom she cared meant more to them than she could ever have known. She was a great cook, enjoyed fishing, and watching the original Jurassic Park, her favorite movie. Janie was the widow of the late Charles Motes, to whom she was married on December 21, 1972 in Malvern. He preceded her in death in February, 2019. Janie was a Christian.
She is survived by her sons, Tracy Finley and his wife, Tonia of Malvern, and Nick Motes and his wife, Jennie of Baytown, Texas; four granddhildren, April Finley Qualls, Shawn Finley, Timothy Callison, and Eddie Callison; by numerous great-grandchildren, including Cooper; and by multiple nieces and nephews, including Connie Draper and Jamie Bailey.
Janie was also preceded in death by her sister, Linda Black, and a grandson, Chris Motes.
A memorial service/visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, March 16, 2022 at six o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Brother Scott Efird officiating.
