Jawan Pearson Gray, age 85 of Malvern, died Monday, June 2, 2014 in Nashville, Arkansas. She was born in Magnet Cove on October 9, 1928 to the late Lamberth Pearson and Virginia Belle Smith Pearson. Jawan graduated from Magnet Cove High School where she was an outstanding basketball player, chosen All-County and All-District player. She served as den mother for Cub Scouts, was PTA President, and was very active in Hot Spring County Medical Center Auxiliary (Pink Lady) where she served as president several times. Jawan was a member of Second Baptist Church where she served for numerous years as superintendent of the Children's Sunday School department. She was retired from Sears & Roebuck and H & R Block. Jawan was known for her pleasant smile and love for people. She especially loved her Lord, her children, and grand and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Carroll, Alfred, and Frank Pearson; and sisters: Cornelia Boyd, Lois Townley, and Juanita Clardy-Graham.

Survivors include her son, Mason Gray (Elianne) of El Paso, Texas; her daughter Shirley Wright (Barry) of Nashville, Arkansas; grandchildren: Zack Gray, III, Thomas Gray, and Jennifer Wright; great-grandchildren: Mason Gray IV, Ryan and Alexis Gray; her sister Melba Fay Willis; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, June 4, 2014, from five until seven o'clock.

Her funeral will be at ten o'clock Thursday morning in the sanctuary of Second Baptist Church with Brothers Terry Parrish and Joey McDermott officiating. Interment will follow at Price Cemetery.
