Jean Spencer Wilks, age 95 of Malvern, died Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Encore Healthcare and Rehab.  She was born on February 17, 1926 in LeDale, Arkansas to the late Jack Spencer and Neppie Downy Spencer.  Reared and educated in Lacy, Arkansas, she had been a resident of Malvern since 1951.  Jean was the widow of the late Dr. A. J. Wilks, a prominent Malvern optometrist, and served as his secretary and office manager for many years.  They were married on October 7, 1950 in Pine Bluff.  Dr. Wilks preceded her in death on February 2, 2004.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her two sons, Ron Wilks and his wife, Sandra, of Malvern, and Gary Wilks and his wife Brenda, of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Adam Wilks (Stephanie), Amber McDill (Allen), Brent Wilks (Alise), and Brittany Wilks (William Cook); ten great-grandchildren, Drake Wilks, Garrett Mayhan, Madeline Bray, Bentley Wilks, Asa Wilks, Lucas Wilks, Bret-Allison McDill, Andy McDill, Asher Cook, Brendan Wilks, and Alex Almodovar; and by two great-great-grandchildren, Eliana Rosalie Rodea-Wilks, and Brinley Wilks.

Jean will be interred next to her husband in Shadowlawn Cemetery
